Our Designer:

As the owner of Kellycakes LLC, Susan Kelly has been creating beautiful cakes for weddings and special events for over twenty years.

With a background in art and a love of baking, she has blended these interests to create the perfect combination for any dessert--beauty and flavor. After graduating from Radford University, she pursued her passion for baking by creating delicious desserts for family and friends. Her fascination with wedding cakes and their infinite design options quenched her desire for artistic expression. She completed several cake decorating courses but found that the art of cake decorating is something that must be learned from hands on experience. Through much reading about different techniques for creating pastillage (sugar decorations) and by practice, practice, practice-- she has gained a lot of practical experience in designing beautiful artistic creations using the medium of cake and sugar.

Susan began Kelly & Company Cakes in 1987 and by word-of-mouth referrals the company has continued to grow ever since. Kelly & Company become Kellycakes LLC in 2006 and the Kellycakes line has expanded to include pound cakes, traditional  layer cakes, fudge and other confections.

Susan's Virginia roots are evident in her baking style. Many recipes have been been passed down through the generations and are familiar to most southerners. Flavors such as Red Velvet, Peanut Butter, Banana Nut, and Seven-up cake reflect the regional influence of this southern cakery. Susan's creativity, eye for color and progressive style are what have turned Kellycakes LLC into southwest Virginia's premiere bakery for cakes and desserts.
